On 16 March 2022, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma received in his Office UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Ms. Afshan Khan.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman gave information on the circumstances of the reception of people, especially children, arriving in Hungary, fleeing from Ukraine, and the measures taken to help them. Since the breakout of the war, 1.4 million children have fled from Ukraine.
