On 4 November 2019, the National Assembly reelected Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay as the deputy of the commissioner for fundamental rights and the ombusdman for the protection of the rights of national minorities in Hungary.
Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay had first filled this office from October 2013 and her first mandate period ended on 21 October 2019. Based on her activities in the past six years, the Association of National-level Nationality Self-Governments, the Parliament's Committee of the Nationaities living in Hungary and the Committee on National Cohesion consonantly supported her reelection.
Upon election, the Minority Ombudsman has taken her oath before the National Assembly and she has been reinstituted in office. Her mandate is for six years.
