Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities received Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities in their Office on 27 August 2021.
During the meeting, the Ombudsman informed the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities about the tasks of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and the extension of its competences, as well as about the activities of the Office performed in order to support nationalities living in Hungary and to ensure their rights. The Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities completed Dr. Kozma's account by presenting all those activities that the Office carries out in the domain of the protection of the rights of nationalities.
The OSCE High Commissioner expressed his appreciation for the high-level work performed by the Office in the field of rights protection, and he underlined that Hungary is a positive example regarding the handling of national minority issues and the continuous assurance of nationality rights.
Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, a Kazakh national, was elected OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities in December 2020.
