On 17 March 2022, Ombudsman Dr. Ákos Kozma opened a new OCFR temporary regional office at the reception point in Beregsurány.
In order to provide direct help to the refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine, the staff members of the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights provide administrative assistance and legal counselling to them, and they also assist in the humanitarian relief efforts.
