null Summit Meeting of V4 Ombudspersons in Visegrád

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary Dr Ákos Kozma opened the summit meeting of V4 ombudspersons entitled ”The Role of Ombudspersons in Protecting the Rights of the Most Vulnerable Groups of Society during the Covid–19 Pandemic” in Visegrád on 21 October 2021.

The two-day conference organised by the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was attended by Slovak Ombudsperson Dr Mária Patakyová, Czech Ombudsman Dr Stanislav Křeček and Polish Deputy Ombudsman Dr Stanisław Trociuk, furthermore, by Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities living in Hungary Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay and Deputy Commissioner for Future Generations Dr Gyula Bándi.


Among others, the situation of police complaints was reviewed at the summit, the role of the OPCAT National Preventive Mechanism in the protection of fundamental rights by the Ombudsman was discussed, and the protection of the rights of national minorities living in Hungary and those of future generations by the ombudsman was also focused on.


The ombudspersons of V4 countries have had annual summit meetings since 2004, in order to share their experience, their achievements and challenges with each other, and to present the practices of the recent period.
