null The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary visited the Eastern Hungary Child Protection Centre of the Reformed Church Aid.
Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, visited the Eastern Hungary Child Protection Centre of the Reformed Church Aid in Debrecen on 2 October 2024, where he was welcomed by the Head of the institution, Ms. Ilona Egri.
The facility consists of three residential children's homes, one special-purpose residential children's home, and a network of foster parents. Children without families are cared for here from birth until adulthood—or even longer: up to 21 years of age upon request, or 24 years of age if they are pursuing higher education.
The institution serves as a central special-purpose residential childcare unit. Its primary mission is to provide specialized care or a combination of special and dedicated care to children over the age of 12, admitted based on decisions made by the relevant Guardianship Office, following recommendations from the national commission.
The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary will elaborate on his observations in his forthcoming report.
