null Bilateral Meeting with Chairperson of the Bulgarian Commission for Protection against Discrimination, and Heads of Bulgarian State Agency for Child Protection

Dr. Ákos Kozma paid an official visit to Sofia on 29 May 2024, where he held meetings with Chairperson of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination, i.e. CPD of the Republic of Bulgaria, Assoc. Prof. Ms. Ana Djumalieva and Deputy Chairperson of the Bulgarian State Agency for Child Protection, i.e. SACP Ms. Ivayla Kasarova, among others.


 

During the official meeting, the parties provided brief information on the institutions led by them, they shared the responses given to the fundamental rights-related challenges and their related practices with each other, furthermore, they discussed the bilateral working relations between their institutions, the development and strengthening thereof, as well as the possible ways of future cooperation. Dr. Ákos Kozma provided information on the extension of the competences of the Office as well, with special regard to the tasks related to the Disability Independent Mechanism under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).


 

The Commission for Protection against Discrimination established on the basis of the Anti-Discrimination Act adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria also functions as the accredited national human rights institution of the UN and a national contact point on combating hate crimes of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, i.e OSCE. 
It is a priority goal of the Bulgarian State Agency for Child Protection that has been operating since 2001 and that was established on the basis of the Bulgarian Child Protection Act to support, coordinate and control the state activities related to child protection.
