null New Stage of Ombudsman Children’s Home Renovation Programme

The second phase of the renovation of the Veszprém-Gyulafirátót Children’s Home has come to an end, in the framework of the ombudsman children’s home renovation programme.

Similarly to the previous years, this year, it was again the Hungarian Prison Service Headquarters (BVOP) and the state forestry companies, including VERGA Veszprémi Erdőgazdaság Zrt that took part in the refurbishment of the building. The ceremonial delivery of the revamped building on 30 March 2023 was attended by Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma, Minister of State for Forests and Land Mr. Péter Zambó, as well as Prison Major General, Deputy Director General for Finance and IT of the Hungarian Prison Service Headquarters Mr. Tamás Farsang.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma stressed that several children’s homes had been renewed as a result of the activities of the children’s home renovation programme launched in 2021.
The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights expects state institutions and non-state organisations to join the continuation of the programme on a national level, in order to renew even more children’s homes in an even broader cooperation.

In the ombudsman children’s home renovation programme initiated by Dr. Ákos Kozma, four children’s homes have been renewed to date: the Vas County Rum Special Children’s Home, the Veszprém-Gyulafirátót Children's Home of the Veszprém County Regional Child Protection Service of the National Child Protection Service, as well as the Baja and Szentlőrinc Group Homes of the Saint Ágota Child Protection Service of the Szeged-Csanád Diocese.
